After lying dormant for half a century, the historic German brand Borgward returned, backed by China’s Foton Group. Drive were tasked with exploring a new design direction for the brand and define a surface language that represented ‘New German’ : This would be revealed to the world alongside the launch of the BX3 crossover. The BX3 project carried on the dynamic and sovereign Borgward brand language with muscular fenders and new modern and young surface treatment. The exterior styling conveys a sense of sportiness while the silhouette merges coupe-like character with clear bodyline management. GERMAN DESIGN AWARD
Almost immediately, the car won the German Design Award in the “Exterior Premium Brand” category, with the jury feeling that the BX3 used a “striking design language”. They further commented “combines elegant sportiness with safety. The vehicle looks pleasantly compact overall and, supported by the stylish two-tone colour scheme, is also extremely modern and young.”
